At St Mary’s we educate and protect our students in their use of ICT and the internet and encourage our children to experience different ways of accessing modern technology. From computers to iPads, our students are able to access a wealth of resources and explore different technologies to suit their learning styles. We aim to constantly reinforce the responsibilities that our students have when surfing the web through ICT lessons, PSHE lessons and Year Group Assemblies. Within school, filtered internet usage is regularly monitored including the students use of iPads.
Obviously, we can only provide these safeguards within school – it is equally important that students are encouraged to use the internet safely and responsibly on mobile devices and outside of school. We also encourage parents to set up filtering on their home internet. To learn how to do this for the major providers of internet please click the link below.
We know that parents and carers are concerned that their children are protected and safe when using the internet, so we have included various links that will direct you to further information from external organisations. To help you and your children to stay safe online the school regularly provides e-safety advice through parent information evenings, regular e-safety publications and bulletins when important advice is needed.
