Saturday 5 February – South East Country Schools Cross Country Championships

Following achieving third place at the Essex Schools Cross Country at Writtle in January, I was selected by Essex County Schools Athletics Association to represent them at the South East Country Schools Cross Country Championships at Reigate Priory Park on Saturday 5th February, 2022.

A total of 103 runners participated in the Intermediate Girls Category over a tough 4.1 km course through parkland and woods on a very windy day.
After a mad hustle and bustle start, I was eventually able to find my pace and found myself about 35th place after the first half of the race. The second half was a stronger pace for me, and I was very pleased to come home in 4th place, with only 14 seconds separating 1st and 4th spot.

Monday 7 February – Year 10 Basketball v Stanway School

We started off the match very strong on defence, only letting in 2 baskets, and Gemma scored our first basket for St Mary’s leaving the first quarter 4-2. In the second quarter we remained strong on defence, but we were so tempted to be attacking that we lost some of our strength in defence and the score for the second quarter was 10-2. However, we kept morale high and played a good third quarter with Scarlett scoring a basket for SMS leaving the score for the third quarter at 14-4 in the last quarter we did keep trying however the score ended up being 20-4. Well done though SMS!
