Weekend of 22/23 January 2022 – Swim England Essex Age Group Championships

St Mary’s girls did really well at the weekend at Stratford Olympic Pool in the Swim England Essex Age Group Championships 2022.  This was the first of three big championship weekends. Good luck girls for the forth coming events!

Greta

1st backstroke 50m

PB in fly, breaststroke and backstroke

Bronze medal in backstroke

Greta is now in the top 10 girls nationally!

Keziah

6th in backstroke and freestyle and got into the finals for both

Year 9

Ella

PB in her freestyle and a silver medal

Ella made the finals for back, fly and breaststroke

Gaby PB on 50m fly

Year 7

9th in 400m individual medley

Tuesday 25 January – Year 11 netball v Stanway

Our Year 11 girls worked hard in their netball match against Stanway this week.  It was a very close game with some great play by all.  Sadly the girls were defeated 22-14 but still a great result and some fantastic attacking play! Well done.

Wednesday 26 January – Year 9 basketball v Stanway

The Year 9 basketball team took on Stanway in a fast and furious match last night. Stanway converted a few opportunities on goal to take the lead early on, but the St Mary’s team were quick to come back, with Imogen and Suri scoring some good baskets.

Stanway increased their lead as the game went on, mostly as they had a bigger team to make subs and continue at the pace set. All of the Year 9 team played with maximum effort and should be proud of themselves despite the end score being a 34-20 defeat.
