District Cross Country event

What a fantastic effort from the whole St Mary’s Senior School’s Cross Country team today at the District Cross Country event. Held at the new venue of the Northern Gateway Sports Park and attended by a large number of schools with at least 60-70 competitors per race, we received a truly smashing set of results! A particular well done to Elle in Year 11 for coming first in the Year 10/11 category and to Sophia and Sophie R in Year 7 for gaining 2nd and 3rd place respectively. All the girls really did us proud and were so supportive of each other across the year groups.

(The first four runners from each school are counted for each age group running, with their places combined in order to give an overall score).

Year 7 were the first team to compete with the following places:

Sophia – 2nd

Sophie R – 3rd

Gabriella – 7th

Isabella – 17th

Isla – 63rd

Charlotte C – 65th

Year 8/9 combined:

Gabrielle – 5th

Eva – 15th

Maya S – 19th

Ella D – 20th

Maisie – 40th

Year 10/11 combined:

Elle – 1st

Rachel – 7th

Lucia – 9th

Alessia – 32nd

Special thanks to Alessia (Year 10) for offering to step in at the last minute and a huge well done in particular to Elle, Sophia and Sophie R, who were positively beaming clutching their medals! Sophie R was leading Sophia until the finish line, when a sprint finish saw Lucia take the silver.
