Distinctions all-round for St Mary’s Lower School’s Infant LAMDA exams

28 September 2021

St Mary’s Lower School pupils have celebrated a sweeping success in their most recent London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) group examinations, with all 44 girls who took the exam passing with Distinction!

The girls age 4-7 years in last year’s Prep (Reception), Year 1 and Year 2 classes at St Mary’s Lower School have been developing their communication skills and teamwork through poetry and fun games during their LAMDA classes led by Karen Binks, Artistic Director at Theatre Arts Academy. For these Group Introductory examinations, the pupils learnt a set poem which they performed in small groups to an external examiner earlier this year to showcase their interpretative, technical and interactive skills.

Mrs Emma Stanhope, Head of St Mary’s Lower School said “I am delighted that our infant pupils have all achieved such fantastic LAMDA results. Although the girls performed in groups, they each had the chance to shine by taking lines or phrases from the poem to perform alone. These positive outcomes show the outstanding development of confidence, communication and performance skills the girls receive at St Mary’s.”
