Handmade Pudseys raise funds for Children in Need

16 November 2020

Children at St Mary’s Kindergarten and Lower School fully embraced Children in Need 2020 on Friday 13 November, raising in excess of £600 to help improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people around the UK.

The Lower School in Copford, Colchester had a non-uniform day and held a Pudsey Bear Raffle giving the pupils the chance to win one of just 26 handmade Pudseys donated by the Director of St Mary’s Lower School, Mrs Emma Stanhope’s mother-in-law. “These bears are made throughout the year for this special event” said Mrs Stanhope “the girls really do love the chance to win one of the Pudsey Bears in the St Mary’s raffle, it is so popular that I think my mother-in-law will need to start knitting now ready for next year!”

Students at St Mary’s are keen to be involved in their communities and to give their support to charities. Children in Need is just one of many charity-led events that St Mary’s School participates in. Several thousands of pounds in donations are raised every year by St Mary’s families. Fundraising activities are student-led, by members of the Charities Committee at the Lower School and by student House Officials at the Senior School.
