24 October 2019
Children’s author Lisa Thompson captivated the attention of Year 7 and 8 students with her stories about the world of writing during a visit to the Senior School on Thursday 24 October.
The girls were interested to hear about Lisa’s journey from being a broadcast assistant for BBC Radio 2 and CPL Productions to becoming a bestselling author. She shared how her love for writing began at the age of nine when she wrote her first book, (including her own illustrations!) but only followed her dream of becoming a published author in more recent years. Lisa outlined during the workshops, how she develops ideas for her novels, about the publishing process itself and her experiences of cracking the international market.
A book signing provided a great opportunity for the students to meet Lisa and purchase her debut novel, ‘The Goldfish Boy’ or her second and third novels ‘The Light Jar’ and ‘The Day I was Erased’.
