Climate Change Hot Debate at Essex Business School

21 October 2019

In front of a 200-strong audience at the Essex Business School, Senior School students Olivia, Lily and Scarlett took to the stage at the Climate Change Hot Debate to put across the case for more action on recycling and the climate crisis to Chairman Sir Bernard Jenkin MP on Friday 18 October. The girls spoke with great confidence about St Mary’s School’s Eco Journey and how we embed the teaching of Climate Change into our school curriculum.

The Eco Team also displayed some examples of curriculum work for members of the public to gain an insight in to how different subject areas approach the teaching of climate change. Julia and Joely, both in Year 8 won an award for their ‘Climate Change Plates’ which demonstrated the impact of climate change and what we can do to mitigate.
