Harvest goods donated by Lower School families were handed over to St Helena Hospice during a special Harvest Festival service at St Albright’s Church, Stanway on Thursday 10 October.
Every pupil – from boys and girls in the Kindergarten to Year 6 girls – took part in the service, which gave thanks for the natural world and all it provides. Year 6 pupils led the service and spoke about sowing seeds to reap the benefits. They talked about crops, as well as sowing the seeds to ensure we look after ourselves mentally.
Guest of honour was Jo Clarke from St Helena Hospice, to which St Mary’s pupils donate their Harvest collection of tinned and dried goods every year.
‘It was so lovely to have joined St Mary’s children for their Harvest Festival’ said Jo Clarke. ‘The items that the children and their families have donated will go a long way to helping the Hospice provide delicious home cooked meals for our patients.’
