Tuesday 8 October:
Year 9 Netball v Thurstable School
Tuesday afternoon’s rain did not deter Year 9 from demonstrating some great team work in their first netball win of the season against Thurstable School!
We started strongly, scoring 4 quick goals – they continued to stretch their lead with some particularly good shooting from Charlotte and at the other end, some great interceptions from Freya and Keziah. Despite changing the team around so players were playing out of position we came away with a 19-4 win. Well done to all who played, a great team effort!

Year 11 Netball v Thurstable School
On Tuesday 8 October, the Year 11 netball team took on Thurstable School in their first league match of the season. We took the lead in the first half of the game with some great centre court play from Lily and Mia, converted by shooters Fran and Charlotte. Thurstable started to chase in the latter half of the game, but the Year 11 team kept their cool and played to their absolute best to win the game 16-11.

Wednesday 9 October: U12/13 and U14/15 Rugby at Colchester Rugby Club
Students from Years 7-10 inclusive took to the pitches at Colchester Rugby Club, for a skills and game play session on Wednesday 9 October. Despite there being only one other school of 4 pupils attending, all the St Mary’s girls made the most of the time, playing with enthusiasm and great team spirit.

Thursday 10 October:
Year 7 Netball (2 teams) v Colchester County High School for Girls
After a few rained off games two excited Year 7 netball teams played Colchester County High School for Girls in a friendly match. CCHSG started strongly scoring quickly, St Mary’s fought to keep in the game, with their play improving throughout, but were unable to make the few chances count. A positive start for their first game of the season and a fantastic team effort!
Red team lost 1-10
Blue team lost 20-3

Year 8 Netball v Colchester County High School for Girls
This is the first time these students have played together in a team this year and they put up a good fight against Colchester County High School for Girls! After the first quarter, the game evened out and we managed to score in the last three remaining quarters despite losing 14-3.
The girls worked hard as a team, we have a few things to improve upon before our next match!
A special thank you to Bella and Phoebe who stepped in at the last minute due to illness.
