Former St Mary’s girl takes the reigns as new Chair of Governors

1 May 2019

Mrs Elizabeth Bevan, a former St Mary’s girl, has recently been appointed to the position of Chair of Governors.

Mrs Bevan, who attended the Lower School between 1984 and 1991 before moving on to Colchester County High School for Girls for her secondary education, is keen to work alongside the school’s Senior Leadership Team to ensure that we continue to provide a high quality education and a happy learning environment.

After successfully achieving a degree in Business Administration at University of Wales, Cardiff, Mrs Bevan embarked on a career in Corporate Finance at Deloitte LLP in London, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 2004. Mrs Bevan is currently on a career break since starting a family in 2014, and now has three young children.

Over the past few years, Mrs Bevan has also successfully dabbled in the property market, buying and renovating several properties across London and the South East. She likes to spend any remaining spare time on her main hobbies, which are cooking and sewing.

Throughout its 110-year history, St Mary’s has benefited from the support and guidance of a highly committed Governing Body, comprising of a combination of professionals, business leaders, members of the local community, former students and the parents of former students, all of whom bring individual skills, insights and experience.

We are currently looking to recruit new members to our Board of Governors and are inviting applications from those who support the school’s ethos. In particular, we welcome applicants who are specialists in Education, Health and Wellbeing and Premises (surveyor, architect, planner, property agent).

Anyone who is interested in offering expertise to help guide St Mary’s into the future or knows of someone who may be interested in the role should contact the Principal’s PA at info@stmaryscolchester.org.uk
