Year 9 Basketball v Colne Community and Stanway School
The Year 9 Basketball team had a victorious evening on Tuesday 15 January, winning a double fixture against Colne Community School and Stanway School.
The girls competed in two very different games as the first match against Colne Community School saw some strong attacking opposition, but the girls held their own and really pulled away with their scoring efforts during the second quarter, taking the win to 30-12.
In the second game against the hosts Stanway School, the team had limited time to play, so the game was fast and furious. Our attacking play won out in the end, with shooters Claudia, Maddie and Lily scoring some great baskets, taking the win to 10-6.
Well done also to Pippa, Eve, Lily, Amelia, Claudia and Maddie.
Year 11 Netball v Stanway School
The Year 11 netball team took on Stanway in an extremely cold match on the evening of Thursday 17 January. Despite the difficult conditions, they played with determination and enthusiasm. Retaining possession for the majority of the match, the girls had pulled away to a 9-0 lead. Defence was very strong, through players Clemmie, Rosie and Romilly, limiting the opposition’s opportunity to score. Attacking play was equally strong from Lizzie, Tabby and Amelia, allowing shooters Tabby and Georgia to take the final score to a landslide victory of 17-0.
Congratulations to all who played.
Year 8 Basketball v Stanway School
A determined Year 8 worked really well as a team against Stanway School in their match on Thursday 17 January. Their defending improved throughout the game and in the final quarter Stanway were only able to score two baskets. The girls were full of encouragement and praise for each other, despite losing 4-34. This was not a true reflection of the run of play as although we had lots of shots on target, we were unable to make them count.
Something to focus on in training next week!
