St Mary’s Annual Carol Service

11 December 2018

SS-Carol-Concert-18-v2_thumbThe whole school joined together for the traditional St Mary’s Carol Service, held at Charter Hall on 11 December 2018.

Conducted by the Reverend Viv Mendham, the service included Christmas readings by staff and students and favourite carols, which were sung by the school community as well as the congregation of family and friends.

Choirs from all parts of the school and the Senior Orchestra performed beautifully throughout the service. Year 6 pupil Henrietta started with a solo, a cappella performance of the first verse of ‘Once in Royal David’s City’ with the rest of the school joining in for the remainder of the carol. Years 5 and 6 girls sang ‘Christmas Round’ and ‘I See a Star’, and Years 3 and 4 sang ‘A Light Has Come (A Child is Born)’. The Chamber Choir sang ‘In Winter’, while the Senior Choir sang ‘O Holy Night’ and ‘Ding Dong Merrily on High’. All choirs joined together for a superb performance of ‘So Many Stars’. The service came to a close to with ‘We Wish you a Merry Christmas’ performed by the Senior Orchestra.

A retiring collection raised funds for the Naz Care Home in India and other school charities.
