Junior Literary Festival: Nick Butterworth

Today’s Junior Literary Festival event was led by Nick Butterworth who captivated the younger members of his audience (and me) with tales of his dog, Jake, who inadvertently led to the inspiration for the much loved Percy the Park Keeper stories.

“Stories” said Nick “are a wonderful way of making sense of a complicated world”. His illustrations flowed with ease too – I loved this impromptu drawing of an exclamation mark (under a microscope obviously) and Nick’s explanation about how he uses such punctuation to effect in his writing.
