St Mary’s Inter-Schools Public Speaking Competition

An excellent evening was enjoyed by our Year 9 and Year 10 students and seven other visiting schools at the St Mary’s Annual Inter-School’s Public Speaking Competition on Wednesday 13 June, with St Mary’s Year 9 student Emily coming away with the award for Best Speaker! The event provided the chance for students to build their confidence, extend and expand the skills exercised in other local public speaking competitions earlier in the academic year and above all else – have fun! The three independent judges, Mrs Maxine Apperley from Holmwood House, Mr Richard Porter of law firm Thompson Smith and Puxon and Dr Vivien St Joseph, a former senior partner at the Creffield Medical Centre, were all very professional, thoughtful and fair.
