One of our affiliations that is offering wonderful opportunities for students to extend their learning is Round Square, and our delegation at the most recent conference at Herlufsholm Skole, near Copenhagen, have been making the most of the opportunity to mix with students from around the globe and take part in thought-provoking activities.

Representing St Mary’s, Year 10 students Sophie, Helen, Orla, Amy, Bella and Molly enjoyed the spectacle of the opening ceremony and heard a keynote speech on ‘fake news’. Since then, they have been hiking and fossil hunting at Møns Klint and have toured the Danish Parliament building, been on a kanal boat trip to see The Little Mermaid and visited Rosenburg Castle to admire the Danish crown jewels! The students also took part in a journalism workshop with industry experts. Bella and Amy did St Mary’s proud at the evening entertainment by performing ‘Scarborough Fair’ in front of everyone attending! In fact the girls have been a credit to the school – despite temperatures of minus degrees and light snow, they spent most of Thursday tackling a high ropes course! Our party traveled home on Friday 16 March, taking in a quick sight-seeing tour of Copenhagen en route. They are looking forward to sharing their experiences with the rest of the school.
