U14 Football Central Venue at St Helena

It was the first football tournament for many of our U14 team on Tuesday and they were excited to play! The first game was a steep learning curve, with Stanway scoring five goals in the first three minutes. The girls rallied together in defence and managed to keep their score to nine goals in the 10 minute game. After discussing tactics, the girls settled into the second match quickly against opponents who were of a similar level, they found this game much more enjoyable. It ended in a 0-0 draw. In the third match, the girls were unlucky to go 1-0 down and that’s how the score stayed. The final match was more exciting, with both teams having scoring opportunities, but sadly it ended 0-0 despite a really good chance within the final minute. All in all, the team enjoyed their experience of football and have learnt a lot!

U16B Netball v CCHSG

On Tuesday, the U16B netball squad played their penultimate game in the pool, against Colchester County High School for Girls. Despite taking a 0-3 hit in the first quarter, the team pulled together, kept motivated and focused in order to take a seven goal lead at half time.

Strong defence from the captain Clemmie, and Rosie limited CCHSG from scoring, and solid attacking centre court play kept shooters Tabby and Georgia scoring regularly. Final score 29-10, with their final match against Stanway in the next two weeks to decide the District title!

U16A Netball v Stanway School

Last night the U16A Netball team played Stanway. Our opponents started strongly, drawing the first points, but Alice’s quick goal levelled the score. By the end of the first quarter, we were ahead 6-3. The team were fearless in the second quarter, with the centre of the court dominated by Kate and Mackenzie, and Daisy scoring goal after goal! Lizzy and Phoebe demonstrated great defence and the game ended in a win 18-9. Well done to all who played, this should now secure us a place in the semi-finals!
