For a joint Art and Geography trip, Year 9 went on a fascinating visit to Cambridge University Botanic Garden on Tuesday 6 February. The students became Rainforest Explorers for the day, taking photographs, sketching, collecting samples and making leaf and bark rubbings whilst observing the different vegetation and how it adapts to the tropical rainforest climate. Using the resources provided, they worked in groups to produce a presentation incorporating everything they had learned throughout the day.
Cambridge University Garden opened in 1846 and has been an inspiration for gardeners and an exciting introduction to the natural world for young people as well as providing a refreshing oasis for all visitors. The heritage-listed Garden has been designed for both year-round interest and seasonal inspiration so there are always plants to intrigue and enchant.
