Our Principal, Mrs Hilary Vipond was delighted to give out certificates to our talented music students in assembly last week. Overall the girls in Years 8 to 11 achieved four Distinctions, four Merits and three Passes in the Summer Music Exams.

Amy (Year 10) passed Grade 7 with a Merit for the piano, Lily in Year 11 passed Grade 7 with a Merit for singing and Abigail, (also in Year 11) passed her Grade 6 with a Distinction for Music Theatre, while Emma in Year 8 gained a Distinction at Grade 3 as well as a Merit at Grade 1 in violin. Bella in Year 10 achieved a Distinction in her Grade 4 Singing, with Eleanor in Year 8 getting a Distinction in her Grade 1. Adelle in Year 9 passed her Grade 1 Music Theory with a Merit.

Emma exclaimed “I was shocked but very proud of my results, it was really nice to see that my hard work had paid off”.

Mr Jack Hammersley, Director of Music at St Mary’s School, emphasised “the girls have achieved some great outcomes for these exams. Completing Grade 7, for example, represents years of work and practice and getting a merit or distinction, especially at Grade 5 plus, is a really big accomplishment!”

Well done all!
