At St Mary’s we pride ourselves on excellent communication with parents.

Open door policy

Kindergarten Practitioners are available at the start and end of the day to speak to parents, if needed. Parents who wish to have a longer meeting should arrange this through the Kindergarten Manager – child to adult ratios must be adhered to at all times in the setting.

Correspondence between Kindergarten and parents is via the ClarionCall system, which sends an email or text message with information about news, trips, reminders etc. Messages may require a ‘click response’. The School Office staff are happy to help with any difficulties.

Information on the week’s learning in Kindergarten and other useful information is sent home as part of the Lower School Spotlight newsletter, every Friday.

The Parent Portal on the school website is a great source of information on the Kindergarten and all sections of St Mary’s School. It also includes school policies, latest news, dates etc.

It is important that parents are able to share in the achievements of their son or daughter while at St Mary’s Kindergarten. The online learning programme Tapestry is a two-way system which gives parents the opportunity to see what their children have been learning at Kindergarten and also to add achievements at home. This creates a rounded picture of a child’s learning and development.

Key Worker

Once a child is settled, he or she will be assigned a Kindergarten Practitioner to be his or her Key Worker. This person will monitor the child’s progress and communicate regularly with parents, sharing progress.
