Monday 25 November:

Year 9 Basketball v St Benedict’s College

The Year 9 Basketball Team took on St Benedict’s on Monday evening and played with spirit throughout.

The opposition were fairly feisty with some good shooters which unnerved the girls somewhat. The second half saw some greater player to player defence, particularly from Eliana which helped to reduce their chances of scoring.

There were some good baskets scored by Louisa who remained assertive throughout the game with great attacking play in the centre court from Charlotte.

The opposition increased their lead a little too much to chase, final score 8-28 to St Benedict’s.

Wednesday 27 November:

Year 8 Basketball v Thomas Lord Audley College

A great first game of the season! It was really promising to see such good teamwork and the students’ ability to take on board advice given and put it into action on court in the following quarter. See Captain, Isabella’s report below:

Miss Hawkins, Head of PE

Tonight’s game started off with TLA scoring the first basket, but after that our team pulled together and the baskets kept coming and we came away with a win of 24-12!

Some points to focus on for our next game, are to make sure that we are always spaced out and moving around the D to get free, another point is to put our hands up and defend as much as possible when marking a player. Also, when we ran to our basket, we need to make sure we are always looking up and ready for a pass to come our way. When defending, we need to mark the space rather than a certain player especially when the ball is coming from the side line.

We all played very well and thank you to Miss Hawkins for coaching us.
