St Mary’s staff, students and their families have once again fully embraced Children in Need, raising in excess of £600 in donations at the Lower School and Senior School.
Children at St Mary’s School, Colchester raised in excess of £600 for Children in Need this year. The Lower School held a Pudsey Bear Raffle giving the younger pupils the chance to win one of only 25 handmade Pudseys donated by the Director of the Lower School, Mrs Emma Stanhope’s mother-in-law. “These bears are made throughout the year for this special event” said Mrs Stanhope “the girls really do love the chance to win one of the Pudsey Bears in the St Mary’s raffle, it is so popular that I think my mother-in-law will need to start knitting now ready for next year!”
Students and staff at St Mary’s Senior School participated in a non-uniform day in exchange for a donation. They held their biggest cake sale yet with delicious homemade cupcakes and cookies on sale during break-time. Students at St Mary’s are keen to be involved in their communities and to give their support to charities. Children in Need is just one of many charity-led events that St Mary’s School participates in. Several thousand pounds in donations are raised every year by St Mary’s families. Fundraising activities are student-led, by members of the Charities Committees and the Senior School Charities Co-ordinator.
