St Mary’s girls travelled the length and breadth of Europe during Activities Week, the last week of June, soaking up the language and culture and seeing some famous landmarks at first-hand.

Year 7 students jetted off to Copenhagen, where they were wowed by the Royal Palace and had a thrilling time at the Tivoli Gardens theme park.

A sociable visit to The Netherlands united the Year 8 girls with their Dutch pen-pals and then gave them the opportunity to adventure across Holland on ferries and coaches to Texel, Den Berg and Den Helder, taking part in bike rides and treasure hunts and visiting a clog factory.

The Blue Lagoon, Botanical Gardens, The Great Geyser and Gullfoss Waterfall were just a few of the astounding sights the Year 9 took in on their visit to Iceland.

Year 9 students had unforgettable adventure in The Pyrenees, taking part in nerve-testing activities including abseiling, rafting and gorge-walking. Year 10 students took part in language school sessions and sightseeing tours in Berlin, Gredos, Sorrento and Montpellier.

With poolside relaxation and time to take in the sights, the Year 11 students took a well-deserved break in Seville with their friends. Meanwhile, in school, students participated in a varied programme of events including bowling, a treasure hunt, team building exercises, candle-making, afternoon tea and a visit to the Big Bang science fair.

In all, a busy and very worthwhile week.
