Physical Education
We offer a broad and balanced curriculum throughout the Key Stages.
Key Stage 3
In Years 7, 8 & 9 girls have lessons in basketball, dance, fitness, football, gymnastics, hockey, netball, rugby, volleyball, OAA, and in the summer term athletics, tennis, rounders, striking and fielding games and swimming. In Year 9 we also introduce multi-gym.
Key Stage 4
Pupils in Y10 have the opportunity to learn new skills in a number of activities, following a course of fitness, badminton, dance and squash. They have the opportunity to use many of the local leisure facilities. They also have the option to participate in basketball, football, gymnastics, multi-gym, netball, rugby, volleyball, and in the summer term athletics, tennis, rounders, striking and fielding games and swimming. Students also get the opportunity to follow the Level 1 Sports Leaders Award.
In year 11 students get to choose the activities they wish to participate in, which consist of; badminton, dance, games, multi gym, squash, table tennis and volleyball.
LEVEL 1 SPORTS LEADERS AWARD
In Year 10 girls can opt to take the level 1 Sports Leaders Award, a nationally recognised award. In the last few years we have achieved a 100% pass rate.
GSCE PE
Girls can opt to take GCSE PE, we currently follow the Edexcel Course and our results are consistently excellent with 100% achieving grades A*-C.
CLUBS AND FIXTURES
We run clubs in a variety of activities, with most of our clubs running at a lunchtime, and something different to do most days. The clubs are open to girls of all abilities, and there are also opportunities for girls to participate in rock climbing and multi-gym after school.
FIXTURES
We enter inter-school competitions against local state schools, as well as some of the more local independent schools. In most sports where we run a club we enter competitions and matches which are played at a variety of levels, ranging from a friendly level of competition, to District, County and National competitions.
Students also get to compete in intra- school House competitions in cross country, hockey, netball, OAA, athletics, rounders, swimming and tennis
TRIPS
Whole school ski trips abroad. Day trips to watch major sporting events.
