Music GCSE
We follow the AQA syllabus. In the past five years…36 students have taken Music GSCE Gaining 20 A*s, 14 As and 2 Bs
In the past seven years…Of the 50 students that have taken Music GCSE 22 have have gone on to study Music A-Level. Whilst others have gone on to take Performing Arts courses.
MUSIC LESSONS
We have an established team of experienced instrumental teachers and at present offer lessons on the flute, oboe clarinet, all saxophones and brass, violin, cello, guitar (acoustic and electric) drums, piano and voice. Lessons on instruments not listed can be arranged if there is a demand. The teachers prepare and enter those pupils who wish to for Associated Board, Trinity/Guildhall and Rock School examinations. Music lessons are taught individiually and are competitively priced at £130 per term.
In the past five years…Many of our musicians have competed in the Colchester Music Festival and done extremely well including:
- a 1st and two 2nd places in the Under 16 Singing Class
- a 1st and two 2nd places in the Under 14 Singing Class
- a 1st place in the Woodwind Class
PERFORMANCES
In the past year…Choir, Orchestra and Chamber Choir have given public performances each term including:
- Carol Service/Wassail Evening, Spring Concert and Prize giving.
- Along with the Drama Department we presented a production of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat”.
THEATRE VISITS
In the past three years…Students have been to see Wicked, Les Miserables, Stomp, and Hairspray in London.
We combine with the Drama Department for some of these visits.
