Year 2
Year 2 follows, where possible, a cross-curricular timetable. The girls work at their own pace, level and ability, particularly in Maths and Spellings. We follow all aspects of Maths and cover the 2,3,4,5 and 10 timetables. We work to the renewed framework in Maths and English as well as letters and sounds for spellings.
Year 2 cover a variety of interesting topics including the Great Fire of London, Guy Fawkes, Remembrance Day, Chinese New Year, Living on an Island/Katie Morag and Recycling.
The girls also investigate a wide range of scientific themes; plants and animals, Variation, Healthy Eating, Forces and Electricity.
In the Summer term, the girls learn about logical thinking as they tackle verbal reasoning. They also sit the KS1 SATS. The girls also learn recorder during this term
The girls learn about Christian festivals including Christmas, Easter, Mothering Sunday and Father's Day.
In Year 2, the girls thoroughly enjoy the opportunity of playing main characters in the Infant Christmas play.
A very important aspect of Year 2 is that the importance of displaying good manners and consistently showing consideration to others is constantly reinforced.
Every week the girls have French, Music, ICT, PE and games.
