Useful Information
School hours:
Lower School Reception and Years 1 and 2: 08:45-15:00, Years 3 to 6: 08:45-15:20, Senior School Years 7 to 11: 08:50-15:40.
School clubs:
Both Lower and Senior schools offer a Breakfast Club from 8am, which has been much appreciated by parents. An after-school Homework Club operates in the Senior School from Mondays to Thursdays. There are numerous other sporting and artistic clubs, as well as a thriving Eco-schools Team and School Council.
House system:
A House System operates in the Senior School and Lower School, with four houses named after the original gates to Colchester – Abbeygate, Balkernegate, Headgate and Scheregate.
Catchment area:
The school attracts pupils from a wide area, including Colchester, Harwich, Maldon, Sible Hedingham, Ipswich, Coggeshall, Mersea, Halstead and Chelmsford.
Communication:
Relationships with parents are truly valued. We have an open door to parents and carers who are invited to contact us should they have any concerns or simply want an interim report on progress. We believe that a successful education rests upon strong partnerships between home and school.
Learning support:
Extra tuition and learning support is provided for pupils who are gifted as well as those who have special needs.
Catering:
Our catering and cleaning arrangements are outsourced to Caterlink, who provide a range of healthy school meals, as well as a salad bar.
Reports:
Reports are compiled twice yearly and meetings are arranged with parents and carers to discuss pupils’ progress.
