YEAR 5 AND 6 LOWER SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY
On Thursday 26th January, twelve Year 5 and 6 girls travelled to the Garrison to take part in the SSP Cross Country, involving many local primary schools in the Colchester district.
Despite a cold day, conditions were excellent for cross country running and well suited our runners.
In the Year 5 race Alannah Thorndyke led the way finishing in an excellent 3rd place, closely followed by Francesca Baker-Smith in 5th place. The rest of the team consisted of Ellie Smyth (15th), Macie MacMahon (24th), Rose O'Sullivan (25th), Mackenzie Chalmers (35th) and Emily Burden (38th).
The Year 6 team also had some fantastic results with two girls finishing in the top three. Grace Lelliott stormed home to a well deserved 1st place, finishing a clear distance in front of the girl in second position. Rachel Harvey had a great run to finish 3rd and dragged the rest of the team in behind her with Beth Philpott in 6th, Annabel Paddon in 9th and Amelia Thurgood in 18th. The Year 6 team have qualified for a place in the County finals in Southend.
Well done to all the girls who took part, everyone ran their best and should be really proud of their performances.
