A SPANISH AFTERNOON
On Tuesday 31st January Genevieve Yusuf came to visit the infants as part of International Week. Genevieve Yusuf is an author of children’s books which are set in Spain and teach a range of Spanish words. Genevieve read two of her most recent books to us; Phillip & Felipe and Lucy & Lucia. They were really interesting and as we read them we practised saying Spanish. Genevieve also brought in dolls of her characters and the girls loved holding them as Genevieve read aloud.

After the stories Genevieve showed the girls flash cards depicting various objects and animals and taught us the Spanish word for each card. Then it was time for music and the girls learnt to dance using maracas like Flamenco dancers.
Genevieve signed the girls books and it was a wonderful afternoon. Thanks very much to Genevieve for spending time at St. Mary's - everybody thoroughly enjoyed themselves and will be practicing speaking Spanish!
