Year 3 become evacuees for the day!

16 October 2018

A day of dressing up and wartime role play was on the agenda for Year 3 on Tuesday 16 October at Braintree Museum. They were able to re-live the experience of a wartime evacuee, discovering the hardships and heroism of World War II with a focus on the local realities of the conflict. The girls took part in an authentic wartime classroom session, capturing the essence of 1940s education, coming face to face with original wartime uniforms and objects and explored the historical WWII exhibition. They learnt about the Blitz and even practised an air raid drill! The visit tied in well with this term’s history topic and will allow the pupils to explore the subject in greater depth.
