The impact of happiness, security and welfare was emphasised to Lower School pupils throughout a whole day devoted to Wellbeing on 7 February.

Pupils aged 4 to 11 took part in yoga sessions, heard talks about feelings and emotions as well as addressing the importance of personal safety through demonstrations, quizzes and e-safety information sessions.

“The school’s mantra is ‘happy girls are high achievers’, so our Wellbeing Day intended to explain to the pupils what that really means,” said Director of the Lower School, Mrs Emma Stanhope. “Our aim is to make sure the girls know how to look after themselves, physically and emotionally. Today helped them to understand the three key topics – health and wellbeing, relationships and living in the wider world.”

Pupils and staff at St Mary’s Lower School were encouraged to give at least three compliments to their fellow classmates and colleagues, with positive, inspirational quotes displayed throughout the school. This programme of activities was a really positive way for the children to finish school for the half-term break.
