Fancy dress and tears marked Year 11 girls’ last official day at school on Friday 11 May before their GCSE study leave and exams.

In an emotional assembly, the girls in St Mary’s top year paid tribute to their teachers, calling each on stage to receive bouquets of flowers and personalised gifts.

‘We can all honestly say that our time at St Mary’s has been a truly unforgettable adventure,’ said Alice B, Alice L and Megan in their final speech to the school. ‘It has been such a privilege to have spent the last five years at such a supportive and encouraging school, surrounded by lifelong friends.’

Wearing their new leavers’ hoodies, the year group then headed off to Mersea Outdoors for a fun activity session, before returning to school for a special farewell lunch and presentation.

GCSE exams begin on 14 May. The Year 11 girls will be reunited for their Leavers’ Ball at the end of term and will be welcomed back to St Mary’s in the Autumn to be presented with their GCSE certificates.
