Lower School and Senior School students tackle the slopes of the French Alps!

Ski trip

Year 6 pupils from the Lower School and Year 7 students from the Senior School went on their first ever school ski trip to the French Alps on Saturday 20 January. The girls, stayed in the exclusive resort of Alpe d’Huez which offers spectacular clear sky skiing days across the season with seven different ski areas of varied piste to meet all skill levels.

The week-long trip saw the students take part in daily group tuition of up to five hours per day. A few who had never skied before were a little apprehensive but soon found their confidence and began to refine their skills as the week progressed. They faced numerous challenges, overcoming fears and working hard to support each other in their successes, showing great resilience!

These St Mary’s enrichment trips are much more than just the activities – they offer opportunities for our students to develop their skills to become responsible young people. Mrs Stanhope, Director of the Lower School who attended the trip said “Time away from home teaches our pupils to become more independent, learning to take responsibility for making sure they are in the right place, at the right time with all they need. I am so proud of how the girls have conducted themselves during this week. They have been a credit to their parents, as well as great ambassadors for the school”.
