Junior Literary Festival 2018

Essex primary and preparatory school groups are invited to join us throughout the week for fun-packed, interactive sessions with a superb array of children's authors, who are determined to inspire young readers!


Sessions are suitable for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 pupils, including Gifted and Talented.


This event is free of charge and some free transport is available!

Monday 18 June: Years 1 and 2, 9.30-10.30am

Chloe Inkpen

Infant pupils will love this interactive session with the author of Hole in the Zoo, Fred and the Zoe and Beans books.


Tuesday 19 June: Years 1 and 2, 9.30-10.30am; Years 3 and 4, 1.20-2.20pm; Years 5 and 6, 2.20-3.20pm

Nick Butterworth

This much-loved children’s author will read from his books and talk about the inspiration for his characters.


Wednesday 20 June: Years 1 to 3, 10.30am-12; Years 4 to 6, 1.30-3pm

Kes Gray

The author of the Daisy stories and the new Mo Farah picture book - Ready Steady Mo! - will talk about his characters, read from his books and sign copies.


Friday 22 June: Years 3 to 6, 9.30-10.30am

Julie Irwin

A writing workshop designed to encourage creativity, by the author of the Edwin Spencer series, who will also speak about her life as a writer.
